Patricia G. Oygar, a former stockbroker, was originally appointed to a vacant spot on the Desert Water Agency in 1992. Since that time, she has been re-elected to that seat three times. Within the Agency, she has also served on several subcommittees which include conservation, public information and personnel. She has also served as vice-chair on the California Regional Water Quality Board. She has also served on or has visibly supported: the Braille Institute Associates of the Desert, the Desert Regional Hospital Foundation and the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
Ms. Oygar earned her B.A. In political science and public service from the University of California, Davis. She is presently the executive vice-president of M&G Drilling Company, Inc., an independent producer of natural gas.
There was some controversy several years ago concerning her support for the sale of the publicly-held (via a bond issue) Waste Water Treatment Plant to Veolia Water (a European-held company). After a much-publicized outcry by some citizens of Palm Springs, the sale was later blocked by a gubernatorial veto by Arnold Schwartzenegger.
